The toads, facing threats from traffic during their annual migration, received a helping hand from concerned citizens who created safe passage routes during the breeding season.

Their heroic efforts may have been in vain, however, as the local water company's decision to drain the reservoir has raised grave concerns for approximately 1,000 breeding toads.
